I have just completed the one week crash course in screen acting with Mark Normandy at the International School of Screen Acting at 3Mills Studios, London and would highly recommend this course to anyone who is looking to make the tranistion from stage to screen acting.I found the course incredibly beneficial, with practical tips on how to place yourself in front of the camera, a useful glossery of terms relating to the different shots used and the opportunity to take part in practical exercises.This was where the course really stands out as you are given simple exercises to do and then get to film them and watch yourself back, alongside your fellow classmates. This is brilliant as it really helps you to become aware of what looks good on screen and what doesn't. It also helps you to become more objective about yourself.It's also brilliant value for money as, for just under £400, you get a reasonable monologue and duologue recorded for you in addition to the tips and guidence.Mark's methods may not suit everyon as he is very fixed in his views and ideas, and is also direct and to the point in his observations, but this approach really worked for me - perhaps because I have a similar ethos to him.If you already have some screen experience, I'd still say this is a good course to do as it will refresh your skills and you'll gain a lot from working collaboratively with the other people on the course.

I am a graduate from 2011. I can't praise the school and the tutors enough for everything they have done for me. Within a month of graduating my agent signed me up after seeing my graduation film, I got my first commercial (Panasonic) not long after that, and I am currently in negotiations for an international feature film after being one of three girls cast out of 100 auditionees. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I would not have been able to achieve any of this without the training and dedication of the International School of Screen Acting and it's tutors, who are dedicated to their craft.

Very concerned you feel that way 'Anonymous'. I'm a tutor at the ISSA and being as objective as I can be - and as someone who still acts, and with a passionate interest in film - the ISSA offers a pretty unique and broad training not available elsewhere. I know those running the school have their hearts very much in the right place. I fully appreciate that not all students are suited to all tutors - I can only hope I'm not one of the 'big egos' you're referring to (my slightly oversized head is a physical attribute I can do little about). I am very sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience. All I can say is that I have stayed in touch with a number of post-grads and I know they feel very, very differently. That said, as with all courses, there will certainly be areas that can be improved upon, so please let me know on this board or get in touch with me, in confidence, at philipjwolff@yahoo.co.uk and I will take, very seriously, any issues you had - and promise to bring them to the attention of the ISSA in person, and as soon as possible.
