I know there's no such thing as a teacher that is necessarily the best one for every actor out there because different actors have different needs. But as someone who's studied with various Meisner instructors in the city I have to say that Alan Gordon is the best you can do in NYC. He teaches in a shitty little studio and his "office" is nothing more than a couple of notebooks he carries with him, yet in my experience he has a bullshit meter that greatly surpasses that of the teachers found in the fancier studios. He absolutely WILL call you out on your acting bullshit and without being abusive about it. He has a true love and respect for the craft that is palpable. He's well read and informed about the acting greats of the past as well as being up to date about the actors on film and TV today. This guy really knows his stuff. Of the meisner teachers I've had, some were bad and some were good, but I'd say that Alan Gordon is the absolute best.

I have been studying with Alan Gotdon for over a decade. He is the most dedicated, insightful teacher I have ever come across. His knowledge and love for the craft comes across every class he teaches, and I for one am truly grateful for his teachings. I have seen my work grow tremendously and it shows with the bigger and better projects that are starting to come. I can say: it's me and my talent, however, that would be a lie. Yes, I have a vast amount of talent, but, if it wasn't for Alan Gordon I would not be able to fully unlock that part in myself to go to the next level as an artist.

wow where do i begin..i will say that studying with Alan can be the liberating, joyus, as well as frightening experince one can imagine..the technique of meisner has to be the genuis of creativity as far as acting is concerned and it the year and a half that i spent with him i learned soo much of what it takes to be not only an actor but also to be an honest being who is able and willing to not be ashamed of who you are but to also "leave yourself alone" and "be connected with yourself and your partner" and for that i am greatful.so if you want to either learn the craft of TRUE ACTING or if you are already an actor who has years of experience but wants to take your talent to the next level then I highly recommend Alan Gordon!

Alan is a blessing to my acting career! I wish I met him years ago before I ever stepped into an audition room! I thought I knew what I was doing then, but Alan as shown me that I didn't know jack! I've learned so much from his classes and his style of teachings is so simply even a caveman could learn from him. But no seriously, I'm so thankful for his acting classes. I am a stronger actor because of The Alan Gordon Acting Studio. I'm not getting paid or anything to write this review, this is all from my heart.
